On the Tip of My Tongue: A Story of Aphasia and Resilience

This is the story of “On the Tip of My Tongue,” a film inspired by Jonathan Hirons’ real-life experience with aphasia. It all began in 2019 during a London meeting. Suddenly, Jonathan couldn’t speak, his thoughts trapped. He couldn’t form sentences, write, or even remember his own phone number.

Diagnosed with aphasia, a condition affecting the language center of the brain, his world was turned upside down. This is a story of resilience, of finding new ways to communicate and connect, even when the familiar pathways are blocked.

Join us as we explore Jonathan’s journey through the challenges and triumphs of aphasia, and discover the power of the human spirit to find its voice, even when it seems lost.

“II really enjoyed being one of the first guests to be interviewed for the Tip of my Tongue podcast. It was a great opportunity to raise awareness of the challenges of caring and the support provided by Carers UK. You’ve developed a fantastic resource and I learned a lot about Aphasia from my discussion with Jonathan.”

– Michael Shann – Carers UK

“Taking part in the podcast “Tip of My Tongue” helped me to take the first steps of building my confidence while living with Aphasia and other disabilities. I have now built my confidence and am now presenting motivational talks. “

Pete Coady – Peer Leader Say Aphasia Darlington

Appearing on the On the Tip of My Tongue podcast was a wonderful opportunity to spread the word about our plans for the international aphasia awareness campaign with a wider audience. The podcast creates meaningful conversations that educate, inspire, and help ensure more people understand what aphasia is and why awareness matters.
